Convalescence of a Rose Daughter

My apologies for not writing in some time. I have been struck down by a nasty Flu and am still recovering. I have rarely left my bed in the past few days, though I have been reading a lot and watching a few films while I sip my chamomile and honey tea :coffee: Miss Charlotte says she is not feeling at all well either, and has thus been keeping me company.

The book I’m reading at present is “Rose Daughter” by Robin McKinley, a master of the Fairy Tale genre. It is a lovely retelling of Beauty and the Beast, which holds true to the original in many ways but also has its own little themes and currents that make it an entirely new story :book: Its comforting reading, it lets me escape from the sickbed to Beast’s magical palace, and makes me wish for nothing more than a vase of roses by my bedside!

Fevers and coughs are not pleasant things, however one writes about them, but I am feeling a little better today, and hopefully a little more so tomorrow.

Honestly I really missed Your writing, Princess, and I know I am not the only one. So sorry to read that You are “under the weather” and hopefully You are feeling much better! Could You add a few drops of fresh lemon juice to Your camomile and honey tea, Princess, as the lemon juice keeps the bacteria under control. Be safe in the Beast’s magical palace - I am certain he will treasure You for the Princess You are.

Robin McKinley is one of my favorite authors. I’ve never read Rose Daughter, though I have read her other take on Beauty and the Beast, Beauty, which I quite enjoyed.
Also, the new princess portrait is adorable. ^^

Aww, I’m sorry you’ve got the flu, Princess! I felt pretty under the weather today, as well, but thankfully, it was just allergies I believe. Too bad yours couldn’t be a simple sneeze and sniffle from floating flower pollen! ._.; Get well soon! PS: Another book series you might enjoy, if you haven’t already read it, would be, A Series Of Unfortunate Events. They’re adorable little books, very charmingly dark, with funny undertones throughout.
