A Walk in the Woods

araluen-070 When you go up in to the hills the air is crisper, fresher, sweeter. Mirai and I got to enjoy the difference today when we visited Araluen botanic park, a special little place nestled in the hills above perth. We were worried it would rain but the sun shone for us all the time we were there :sunny: giving us a chance to take lots of photos and explore.

The tulips were still in season, so brilliant and colourful. My favourite flowers were these little Snowbells though, :flower: I can just imagine them as fairy bonnets or cups. We went all over the park, jumped over steams, walked across bridges and ate icecream by the lake.

However, that wasn’t the only reason we were there. In a month or so’s time, my birthday party will be held there! The theme is a Midsummer Night’s Dream, inspired by Shakespeare’s magical, mischievous little comedy. I am going dressed as Titania and the Prince as Oberon. It will be staged in the lovely little lakeside grotto you can see in the gallery. I have been planning this for a little while now, its so exciting to finally see it coming together. :sparkle:

I just moved out of the mountains, I miss the air there so much, and being able to see the stars. Your birthday sounds fantastic! Mine is coming up shortly as well, though I believe mine will be spend quietly in my apartment with my beloved.

I am interested in Shakespeare, classical music and the like. If you could recomend a website for these things it would be very much appreciated!

Oh, that sounds superb! What a lovely idea for a party, and such a gorgeous setting. I presume you will all be dressed to the nines, though will it be loli-style or in more fairy garb?
I would so love to be able to have a party like that, though not enough people I know would want to dress up. My only regular chance to really dress up will be Halloween (though I am going as un-loli as possible -and in crossplay- as Sirius Black from the Harry Potter books.) however for my little sister’s birthday party, our 4-year-old cousins, a nieghbor girl, my little sister, and myself all dawned lovely princess gowns, jewelry and crowns and had a ridiculously enjoyable time.

And finally, very happy birthday, Princess!

Naomi Happy Birthday! I used to live in the hills too and I miss the air there so much, when I grow back I stand there for a while just breathing, it tastes so much sweeter.

Haley I suggest you do some searching online, there are many great sites with ebook versions of classical literature (here is one) and download some classical music to find which you like best!

Olivia Your idea from Halloween sounds great! I went to a Harry Potter party recently and though I am not a big fan of the books it was a lot of fun! Your sister’s birthday party sounds truly magical ^^ thank you for sharing it with me!
