Disney Princess Skye

Disney Princess Skye After watching Enchanted I had a lot of fun drawing my own ‘Disney Princess’ self. I just imagined what I’d look like if I fell down a man-hole in to an animated kingdom, customary long flowing hair, big eyes and an ankle length dress. I borrowed a little bit from each of the other disney Princesses to help fit the theme. Please click the image for a larger view!

I’m not sure what her story would be, perhaps she actually did come from our world and found her way there by accident. She landed in the heart of a forest, where a kindly old women out picking herbs found her and brought her home. Now she lives in a little cottage by the river and helps her benefactress (Fairy Godmother in disguise) with chores, spending her free time outdoors picking flowers, talking to the animals and of course singing!

Someday she’ll meet a hunstman in the woods, he’ll give her a terrible fright but afterwards win her over and take her back to his castle, because he is a Prince as it turns out. There she must use all her wits to foil his wicked stepmother’s plans to seize the throne of his ailing father, before they can live happy ever after!

Cliché enough? What would your Disney Princess be like?

It’s funny, since you posted this in your journal I’ve been wanting to draw out what my alternate “Disney Princess” ego would be like.

She would live in a small, isolated kingdom possessing natural beauty and wonders unsurpassed by any other. Her head would always be on a flight of fancy - that is to say, she would always be swallowed up in her thoughts and as a result, sometimes a bit careless. Proper education was a top concern for her parents, and she would demonstrate intelligence, articulance and a well-rounded knowledge of the arts. It would be emphasized to her that as a princess, she is a steward of this kingdom and its subjects, and she would possess an optimistic, warm and compassionate demeanor, as well as a tomboyish streak and strong-willed attitude - to the chagrin of her retainers who would like to see her in court more often.

Court life would start out as a chore, but she would come to enjoy it more as she got older. Her hair would be long and curly, which she would cut very short in an act of defiance in her adolescence. This princess would always insist on knee-length skirts or boys’ pants for her excursions into the many forests - rumored to be enchanted and containing gateways to a fairy land - surrounding her father’s castle. For court, however, ankle-length skirts with petticoats reminiscent of the 18th century were in order. If she wasn’t preferring to dodge court appearance exploring the land, she would go and talk among her father’s subjects and help them with any problem they had. She seems to have a very uncanny way with plant and wildlife - it is rumored that she was blessed by fairy courtiers on her first birthday (but while people agree some sort of commotion came up during the party, no one really remembers what it was…). She doesn’t much think about a prince - her father receives many visits from royalty from abroad, could one of these traveling princes catch her eye? Or a boy from the nearby village where she likes to help out? And there are those who insist that she was bethroded to a fairy prince, and he will come for her on the eve of her 18th birthday to be married.

Well, that turned into a book there. ””’:D

I think my princess would be born to a family or artists and meet a traveling prince, and have to undergo a long and complex journey to find him in his homeland, where she goes to live with him happily ever after. A magical homeland full of mythical beasts and with eternal summertime. ; ) Sound about right? Hehehe.

My princess would have long straight hair (about the length it is now) and possess all of my features. She would live in a small fishing village outside of Venice (the Venice when mermaids still swam in the canals and gryphens still flew in the sky) and one faithful day she was hired to do simple cleaning jobs inside the palace. Although her pay was small and she had to send half to the family she left behind, she enjoyed the atmosphere and was anxious to find a way into the palace’s “garden of Eden” (which supposedly is really located somewhere in Venice). One night when was organizing one of the royal storage rooms she knocked over a wind up doll and gasped at it beauty. She wound it up and watched it dance as a little tune played from inside it. A voice behind her said “I see you have found Kreeaya.” It was at this moment the princess met “The sickly Prince” He was about her age and had long black hair and enchanting eyes, he was bedridden most of the time and it was at these times he made dolls. His father the king did not approve and thought doll making was not a “manly” thing to do. “The Water Princess” and “The Sickly Prince” found a way into the garden and it became their secret spot and he made her dolls for every occasion…

My story would be that of Chae Kyung’s from the Korean drama Goong aka Palace aka Princess Hours.

Princess Skye, I think you would LOVE Goong! Check it out if you can

Hm…I really feel I’m not very princess-y with my tales, but I’ll give it a shot.

My fairy tale would be of a princess who is holed up in her castle for her entire life. She spends most of her time reading and wondering what was on the outside world. Finally one day, she decides to runaway, but in sneaking out of the castle just for a day, she finds herself unable to find her home again no matter how well she retraces her steps or even if someone offers to walk her back to the castle. It is mysteriously just beyond her reach.

She discovers that her family was cursed by a witch around the time she was born. She had five brothers all of whom were banished to distant ends of the earth; one wandering the mountains, one trapped in a never ending forest, the other was lost an an island in the middle of an unknown sea, the other was in a frozen tundra, and the other is trapped in an underground labarynth of tunnels. If she ever left the castle walls she could never find her way back home until she found all five of her brothers.

A group of circus performers offer to help her since they travel all over.

I believe that’s colorful and adventurous enough make a movie. It’s probably missing the big dresses and a prince. Maybe the young ringmaster of the circus is actually a prince running away from his responsibilities? Now about the dress…well, maybe there’s a huge ball scene at the end when the truth is revealed about the prince.

Man, that’d actually make a great story. Maybe I’ll really write it!
