Tonight I have a little bit of a surprise for you. Its something rather different, and I hope it won’t shock you too much with my australian accent!
I’ve wanted to run a podcast or audio element on this site for a while now and recently a wonderful opportunity come up!
A little while ago I met a friend of a friend named John. John helps run a small, local community radio station in Perth and one of his jobs is to interview people to broadcast on the station. After finding out about my site and Lolita fashion he asked me to participate in an interview and I thought it would be a fun experience so I said yes!
I must admit, I was very nervous about it, as I’ve never done anything like this before, and I think that comes across in how fast I’m speaking (though I normally speak quite fast anyway) and some of my answers are a bit un-prepared but I think John did an incredible job of editing it all and putting it together so all credit for the polished result is due to him!
Just a note, the Princess mentioned in the intro is Mary of Denmark, who is Australian aswell.
John has very kindly supplied me with an Mp3 of the interview so that I might share it here. To play the mp3 click the Swan image above, to download it right click the image and select ‘Save Target As…’ Thank you to John and the people at Fremantle Radio for letting me be part of their show.
I hope you like my first audio post!

Woah :D I never really thought about what you might sound like. You have a really cute voice!
Thanks for sharing.
A making Princess Portal podcasts would be such a good idea! ^^
May 13th, 2008 at 11:41 pm
Oh, how exciting!
I will listen to it at once!
I’ve always wanted to do a podcast as well.
I held a little show on horror stories, and vampires when I was in school for a project. It was so much fun.
May 13th, 2008 at 11:44 pm
…. I absolutely adore it.
Your accent is so cute.
You have the most pleasant, and adorable voice!
May 14th, 2008 at 12:01 am
Haha, I’m glad to see they enjoyed it ^.^
And I forgot to say, they’re totally right; you do have a cute voice! I was worried to be honest as I hadn’t heard you speak very much when we first met but you were amazing, so congrats on that :)
Anyway, gotta wonder if this’ll become a standard part of your show now? Haha, have a good night!

Wow, it must have been a great experience for you. I think you’ve summed up everything pretty well.
Your voice is very elegant, it’s true that you speak fast but I understood everything, hehe :).

I’m not even through listening to the podcast but I had to post a comment because your voice is so cute!
And don’t worry about talking fast. I talk very quickly, but it doesn’t seem to bother people. I can understand you very well on the podcast.
Wonderful job!!
May 14th, 2008 at 3:27 am
Your voice is so cute and I understand almost all you said (and English is a foreign language to me). I really liked the things you said.
May 14th, 2008 at 3:29 am
Ooh, somehow I never thought you voice would sound like this ^^ I would probably never conect your voice and youself together.
Thoe, you DO have a beautiful voice :)
May 14th, 2008 at 3:32 am
Oh, that was wonderful! Your accent actually isn’t that strong and you have a very sweet voice. You speak quite well — it didn’t seem too fast, but you did manage to fit in a lot of information in a clear, concise way. I’m most impressed!
May 14th, 2008 at 6:16 am
You have such a cute voice!
I’m actually quite shocked about how much your accent is like mine. Then again, Australian accents are closer the British than American, in my own opinion.
I’m used to hearing the over-exaggerated and stereotypical sort.
Eee! you’re so lucky to be on radio!
*Jealous*
May 14th, 2008 at 6:42 am
Haha, its so strange to hear your voice, its very sweet though ^_^
You didnt sound at all nervous, and I think what you said was great. Great job!
May 14th, 2008 at 7:16 am
Oh my, you have such a sweet voice!
It was a pleasure listening to this, you did a wonderful job, even though you were nervous ^^
Thank you for sharing!
May 14th, 2008 at 7:30 am
You have a wonderful voice! Your accent isn’t strong at all. You sound so confident which is good! Congratulations!
May 14th, 2008 at 7:56 am
Wow! Great work. Your Aussie accent is there but definitely not too strong as your still easy to understand. When I talk fast with my Aussie accent you can’t always understand.
It was nice to put a voice to a face =)
May 14th, 2008 at 8:01 am
aww, you sound so sweet
May 14th, 2008 at 9:06 am
When I checked into your website this morning before school, I was so excited to see that you had a podcast! I quickly put it on my mp3 so I could listen to it at there (my mother and I were running a bit late this morning!) I must say I am very impressed, and you showed not a hint of nervousness in your voice, or at least from what I could tell. That was a lovely interview and hopefully you will do more!
P.S. My friend wanted me to tell you that you have, in her words, “such a lovely accent!” and she wishes she had one like yours haha.
May 14th, 2008 at 9:25 am
your voice is adorable!! ^.^ I love your accentt!!
You don’t sound nervous at all :)
May 14th, 2008 at 9:35 am
Oh, that was lovely! You were very well spoken, and you really do have a very sweet voice! It’s very fitting for a princess. ^^
May 14th, 2008 at 10:00 am
holey moley!!
that was wonderfully pleasant
your accent is soo kawaii!!
i love the background musica.
May 14th, 2008 at 11:46 am
this made me smile :p
May 14th, 2008 at 12:24 pm
You sound exactly like I thought you would. I always tried to “hear” you posting and I thought your voice would sound sweet and Australian…I rue the day I was not born there…
I loved it so much, I saved it for future reference and smiles.
More podcasts please if you’re so inclined…
May 14th, 2008 at 12:36 pm
I loved that! It’s funny, I have always imagined your voice to be a little deeper, and to have sort of a romantic drawl. What an adorable surprise! You sounded very intelligent and sweet. What a wonderful representation!
May 14th, 2008 at 1:11 pm
Princess Skye! I must say that you have an absolutely darling voice! It absolutely fits your persona, and online personality! I always knew that you would have an accent, but it is extremely cute! I can see that you’ve read it a million times already, but truly! SO awesome that you are speading the word as well! much love!
May 14th, 2008 at 4:22 pm
Beautiful as always, dear Skye! This might be the beginning of something big! ;3
May 14th, 2008 at 6:26 pm
You have a very sweet voice.
The aussie accent is beautiful.
Hugs.
May 14th, 2008 at 7:55 pm
You have a very pretty voice.
May 14th, 2008 at 8:05 pm
You sounded really good! Very confident and well-spoken. : ) The way John says “Petit Miel” made me laugh a bit, hee.
I noticed the birds chirping the background a bit, I have to say this sort of takes me back to when I used to talk to Roli on the phone before I’d vistied here, and I could hear the parrots over the phone. I thought Australia must be pretty amazing back then. Of course, I still smile when I see a Rosella in a palm tree and think “this is my daily life now”… haha, that was a bit of a derailment. XD;
May 14th, 2008 at 11:13 pm
wow!~
I waited for this interview the whole day. I first read your post at school because we had a free hour, and now that I heard your voice I’m just shock!! because you were always a big part of my routine and although I always imagined your voice it was so weird to hear it^^
I think you have a really pretty voice and it’s so cute!! and I actually imagined you talking fast..but it’s still so weird!~ now you seem to me like a human being! now I totally understand what it means to be a princess! because on the net you look like a princess from the dreams and now I see you’re not different from me and that makes you (for me) more special^^
May 15th, 2008 at 12:06 am
Oh my goodness, your voice is way cute.
The accent makes you sound way more princess-y than when I thought of you with an American accent! (I’m not good at accents, heh)
May 15th, 2008 at 5:51 am
I agree with Abbie :3
Such a sweet voice, I was so excited when I was listening to you.
May 15th, 2008 at 7:49 am
Oh God… your voice is so sweet.
I even sweat a little bit when I was hearing you xD You sound so princessy! ;__; I wish I were considered a princess too, because I have the same concept as you do.
It made me laugh a little bit when John said “Lady” and “Lolita” xDD. I have a classmate who lived in Australia and his accent is much funnier than yours should be, yours was so sweet! It compliments your voice so much! I could understand everything, the beginning, just a little bit, it seems that you speak fast when you’re nervous ;o; You seem so strong and confident, though!
Your voice is extremely adorable, and it’s dign of a princess!
May 15th, 2008 at 10:24 am
What a lovely idea. I enjoyed listening to your interview; it sounded very professional. Your voice wasn’t at all what I expected, honestly!
♥
May 15th, 2008 at 10:43 am
Hi Princess! Wow, thanks for sharing this! I found your voice so lovely! It`s true that you talk a *little* fast but aww I really love your accent!^^ The interview was very interesting, thanks again^^
(I think You might add more audio posts n_n!)
May 15th, 2008 at 11:28 pm
You si an absolutely amazing job!
Everything was very well put and your voice is so sweet. I think you should most definitely do a Princess Portal podcast!
May 15th, 2008 at 11:41 pm
I like the idea of a princess podcast too! ^_^
Haha, your voice sounds different to how I expected! Not that that’s bad ^.^
May 16th, 2008 at 11:45 am
That was amazingly cute, it really made my day! ^///^
And I must agree with the others,a princess podcast would be really awesome.
May 18th, 2008 at 2:24 pm
Aw, you have such a sweet sounding voice. It actually reminds me of some girls I used to work with, yet with an Australian accent! I loved the interview. ^^ It was cool to be able to put the your face and the words on your site together with your voice, and so get a better picture of you in my mind.
May 18th, 2008 at 5:31 pm
I never pictured that voice coming from that face! XD You came across as very pleasant. What a fun thing!
May 20th, 2008 at 7:03 am
