It was a blustery day today! The wind played with my hair and skirt and sent the autumn leaves dancing in little gypsy whirls, the sky couldn’t make up it’s mind whether to rain or shine and the last summer roses are blooming in the palace gardens. I love this little one, its as red as blood and makes me think of Beauty & the Beast.
After getting my morning chores out of the way I headed in to the city. My main errand was to purchase a new shirt for work, I found one surprisingly fast (usually it’s such a hassle!) and so decided to treat myself to lunch from Utopia. I had this yummy curry bread that was shaped like a triangle and covered with sesame seeds and a strip on nori, to go with it I bought my favourite Rose Milk Tea.

Following lunch I decided to have a browse in borders, I love the international magazines section. Today however I found myself drawn to the poetry shelves, where there was a little book of French poems that occupied my time for a while as I sat in a puddle of skirts on the bookstore floor. It was full of romantic poems, with the original on one side and the english translation on the other. One of my favourites was Tristesse d’été, or The Sadness of Summer.
My other errand for today was to buy a new sketch book! One of the goals on my 101 challenge was to start a new sketch book and do some drawing every day. Art is something you have to practise, I don’t believe the world is divided in to those who can and can’t draw, sure there is natural talent, but most of it comes down to experience. Although I usually buy pretty stationary, when it comes to sketchbooks I like them to be very plain, the one I bought today has a blue cover and gorgeous antiqued yellow paper, it is as soft as velvet and I’m just itching to start drawing in it. I also picked up this cute little moleskin diary, I plan to carry it with me to help record beautiful thoughts and little moments of inspiration.
The city was really beautiful today, there are Maple trees planted all down the main shopping streets and their golden brown leaves dusted the sidewalk. I loved seeing all the new winter fashions coming out too, I like the colours a lot better this season and I even bought myself a little winter dress. I need some more warm clothes!
I hope you had a beautiful day aswell!

It is lovely to hear about your lovely day! The roses in my garden are blooming like fireworks, because summer has just arrived! Today is my last day of school, and I am done with final exams!
I would have to agree about your statement about artists “those-who-can-or-can’t”. I try to tell a lot of people this (because I am an artist), but usually they just laugh. X3
Why is it ususally such a hassle for you to find a sweater?
It is true, art takes plenty of practice! Your day sounds lovely, (as do most of your days sound) I just got out of school as well (just like Heather) and had my final exams. I am excited about summer, I have plenty of Lolita/Princess projects to work on, such as a scrapbook, room decor (I am getting my own room this summer!) and wardrobe changing. Lucky that you found a shirt fast, usually it takes me forever -^.^-
I am glad you had such a lovely day. Your lunch sounds amazing. The rose is so beautiful though it makes me sad my new landlady won’t let me revive the rose bush her mother planted.
I agree about art, I need to purchase a new sketchbook as well. I need a lot of practice.
I absolutely agree about art- well, I think that some people do have a natural talent and not everyone can be the next Picasso (or whatever famous/revolutionary/genius artist you like), but almost anyone can become good at drawing or the art of their choice if they try and, most importantly, work hard at it!
It reminded me of this: http://spacecoyote.deviantart.com/art/Damien-Redesign-2007-3983940
It’s an example of how one person’s drawing and character design skills have changed over a few years (she’s actually doing professional comic book work now) and I think it really shows very well how hard work and practice can help you improve as an artist. I’m sure I’ve seen others along these lines as well, this is just the one I remembered off the top of my head. ^^ It reminds me of how much I need to practice drawing as I feel I’ve lost a bit of skill lately, especially in inking and colouring (never my strong points but still, I think I used to be better).
Your town sounds so lovely. I would love to see more pictures around town. I would like to see what all of the shops look like.
I wish I lived in a beautiful town. My town is an oil and gas refinery town, so there isn’t a lot of beauty or culture here.
Rose milk tea sounds delicious! What a beautiful post.
