Stationary and Wardrobe Sorting

Tuesday, May 29th, 2007

Cute Stationary Phew! Today was very busy and productive. I’m happy to say that the Princess Portal is fully operational again, and the bugs with the Gallery page have finally been fixed. I have added a few new things too! There are some more entries on my “favourites” page, and a new feature - The Princess Code :tiara: This is a project I have been working on for a little while, with the help of some good friends who wrote the code themselves. We hope you will enjoy it, please feel free to place the banner on your site!

It was dark and overcast when I woke this morning, but the clouds parted just long enough for me to enjoy my morning walk. I took a sidetrack through the lovely rose walk near our public library :flower: I love how roses can bloom at any time of the year in our climate, our blood red rose is budding again as well. My walk took me to the post office, where I picked up a stationary order for Mirai and myself. Inside were these cute letter and memo sets! Sugar Bunnies and Charmmy Kitty Winter Snow design. They’re so pretty, I can’t wait to write some letters with them!

My other chore for today was sorting out my wardrobe. I cleaned it out and threw out some old shoes and clothes  then rearranged it so it’s easier to access and all my cutsews, blouses, jsks, skirts and ops are lined up nicely in a row. I wish I had a bigger armoire! I have trouble fitting everything in. Now I am off to enjoy my dessert of Strawberry and Apple Pie and watch The Storyteller (a charming and spooky fairy tale series from Jim Henson), Good Night!

Snow Princess and Tea cake

Wednesday, May 23rd, 2007

BABY the stars shine bright Caplet I baked a cake today! Its a lemon teacake with cream cheese icing :cake: I haven’t had any yet because I put it in the fridge to cool and then forgot about it, but I’ll take some to work tomorrow for morning tea!

It was rather cold and overcast today so I spent most of it indoors, rugged up in my fur trimmed capelet and watching Lady Lovely Locks. I recently found the dvd, its a charming series and very nostalgic for me.

For those unfamiliar with it, Lady Lovely Locks is an animation and toy series from the 80’s, it is about a beautiful kingdom ruled by a princess named Lady Lovely Locks and her two close companions Maiden Fairhair and Maiden Curlycrown. The entire world is about hair funnily enough, even the sinister Duchess Ravenwaves is obsessed with it and plots her evil schemes from her castle in Tangleland. I love the simplicity and innocence of the stories, and the artwork from the accompanying books is beautiful.

I also watched The Prince and Me, which I expected to be a rather shallow post-teen movie.. and it was, but it also had enough bittersweet charm for me to thoroughly enjoy it. I loved her fluttering flower petal gown at the coronation ball :crown: and little Princess Arabella was darling! The ending had a rather strange twist too.

This site is being moved to a new host at the moment, so please don’t be alarmed if it dissapears for a short while or some entries seem to be missing, I should have it up and running again soon!

Flowers for the Face

Tuesday, May 22nd, 2007

Rococo Frame My skin feels like its glowing right now! :sparkle: Today I had the chance to restock some of my ointments and creams that had been used up or expired and it is so nice to be able to have a full toilette once more.

The products I use are made locally, in a small country town set into rolling green pastures that make it feel like a little slice of pastoral england. The town is called Balingup and the company is called Tinderbox. I use their cosmetics almost exclusively because they are one of the few that actually use 100% natural ingredients in their skincare, while most “natural” cosmetics are mostly chemicals with a dash of plant extract. :flower: I love opening the little bottles to the scent of orange flower water, freshly cut herbs and precious myrrh, scrubbing my skin with oats and honey and washing my face in morning dew. It makes me feel like Cleopatra or some Princess of old using these ancient recipes.

I also did a little shopping with the Prince, indulged in my favourite Strawberry and Kiwifruit nectar, and bought this beautiful photo frame! I love it’s rococo foliage and now I just have to find a picture to put inside! Perhaps an Angelic Pretty postcard or a little portrait of Marie Antoinette?

Curtains for a Palace

Friday, May 18th, 2007

Delicate beauty True to my word, I have been devoting my time and funds to decorating my chambers and it is very rewarding! Today’s mission was curtains. I left early in the morning and caught the train to Fremantle, a portside town. I spent the trip gazing out the window at the little bit of sunlight peeking through the clouds and picking out dappled gold patches on the otherwise grey ocean. It was an overcast day.

As soon as I arrived I went straight to my favourite store… “Store.” While the name may not seem very exciting it is filled with a marvalous array of things, both amusing, cute and elegant. I love to shop there for gifts, and also decor. Today I chose out a little vase made of milky pink glass and pink and white ostrich feathers with which to fill it. Ostrich plumes are so pretty! I can not help playing with them and running them through my hands, and can well imagine why Marie Antoinette was so fond of them!

I ate lunch at a little cafe and then went on to the Craft store to find the rest of my supplies. After about an hour standing around indescisively I finally purchased some curtains  They’re soft white organdie with rows of vines picked out in pearly white thread. I also bought some large pink silk roses and pearl chain.

When I arrived home I set the curtains up, tying a white organdie scarf across the top by way of drapery and fixing the bunches of pink roses to each corner. I also draped some pearls over the top and made the rest in to ties to pull the curtains back from the window. They’re still a little creased from being folded, but otherwise I’m really happy with them :sparkle: Certainly much prettier than the rags I had in place beforehand!

Hair Cut for the Prince, Mail for the Princess

Wednesday, May 16th, 2007

Gift from pink_emmie_batThe Prince and I both had today off, so it was nice to get a chance to spend some time together. :hearttwo: In the morning we went for a walk to pick up some parcels from the post office, there was two boxes wrapped in brown paper waiting for me! I love brown paper parcels, they seem so old fashioned and ripping the paper open is good fun too! In one box was my white Angelic Pretty Cutsew from miffytoki, and in the other was my pink Cutsew, Cupcake shoes and a little card and gift from Emmie! The gift is an adorable enamel necklace featuring a bunny :rabbit: and strawberries :strawberry: what could be cuter? Thank you! I’m happy that both the cutsews fit fairly well and now I have something warmer than blouses to wear with my skirts.

After we returned I embarked on my task for the day, cutting the Prince’s hair! He has amazingly thick black hair which seems to grow so fast and always need cutting so I offered to try my hand at it. I was a little nervous because I wanted him to like the result, but I think it came out allright. I hope I will get better at it with practise.

The rest of the day was spent running errands and we ate out for dinner, which was a nice change. I have to get up early tomorrow, so I must get to bed. I have been a little more tired lately, probably because life has been so busy!

Morning Walk

Tuesday, May 15th, 2007

My DresserIt was so cold today, but very sunny. The air just had that crisp bite to it that lets us know Lady Winter has arrived in full. I’m very glad that my chambers seem to keep quite warm and thankful for my heavy goosedown quilt which is snug on the coldest of nights. :winter:

This morning I wrapped myself in a coat and scarf and went for a walk. I had a few errands to run, I picked up two new books from the library (I really do go through them too fast!) “Abundance: A Novel of Marie Antoinette” and “Fortune’s Fool,” which is the newest book in the 500 Kingdoms Series by Mercedes Lackey :book: Its one of my favourite series to come out recently! Ms Lackey has such a deep understanding of mythology and legends and works them in to her retold fairytales very cleverly. I love her unique take on Fairy Godmothers and “The Tradition” which guides the lives of her characters.

I also had time to stop by the local Antique/Curio stores. A new one has just moved here and they were still unpacking trinkets and books and furniture when I arrived, the owner seems very friendly. I spent a good hour or two browsing the store and the more established one down the road. I have decided that I definitely need some sort of cabinet for my chambers so I can buy some of the lovely little porcelain Rococo figurines to display  there simply isn’t enough room on my dresser, which is crowded enough as it is!

Autumn Picnic

Saturday, May 12th, 2007

A perfect seat Today was the first time I have seen Mirai-chan in a while because we have both been busy with work, so we decided to have a little picnic to celebrate! :flower: There is a tiny park near where we live, it has a gazebo and some beautiful old trees, we set up our picnic blanket (which has teddy bears on it, so cute!) and had our lunch of fresh salad, finger sandwiches and iced chai tea.

The autumn leaves were so pretty to watch, every time the wind blew they would float down in a rain of gold, we tried to capture this effect on camera but it just didn’t show. Nonetheless, after we were pleasantly full we took some cute snapshots around the gardens. In particular there was a tree we both took turns climbing up, it made a comfortable seat too! We picked flowers and blew dandelion heads and just enjoyed the superb weather. I think it is nice to have little impromptu outings when the days are as fine as they are now. Soon it will be raining and cold all the time and we shan’t be able to go outside nearly as much. :autumn:

I have decided to redecorate my Palace as a winter project. This means I have to stop buying clothes for a little bit and spend my pin money on new furnishings instead, it will be nice though to have some new curtains, a mirror and maybe a dress form. I want to get some framed paintings too, I think walls look very empty without pictures. A Princess’s sanctuary should be as beautiful and comfortable as possible.

In the Comfort of one’s Home

Thursday, May 10th, 2007

usamimi I had such a relaxing day at home today, I had rather intended to get a bit more done but it was nice to just enjoy the freedom and comfort of being here than rushing around with errands. Not to mention I had to wait for a very tardy postman! :mail:

My postman is nice though, he always remembers me and likes to talk about our flower garden. Today he brought me a parcel from Japan which contained two lovely new dresses and my Bunny Ear Muffs! Parfait is kindly modeling them for me here :rabbit: I have to arrange a very special photoshoot soon, it will require a bit of diplomacy on my part to secure the location, but I’m hopeful it will all work out!

This afternoon I watched “The Nutcracker” with Abbie-chan, it was a really sweet interpretation if not quite true to the story. I’d love to see it as a ballet! Which reminds me, I have to get tickets to “Coppelia” which will be showing here soon! I’m so excited, I love the ballet, I might see if the Queen would like to go with me.

Sweet Treats and a Perfect Day

Tuesday, May 8th, 2007

Sweet Treats The weather today was perfect! There wasn’t a trace of cloud in the sky and the sun was just a little warm, while the air was just a little cool :sunny: I wanted to spend the whole day lying in a field somewhere just soaking up the lovely sunshine.

This morning my darling little cake boxes arrived, they’re handmade from yarn and glue and have adorable crochetted strawberries and blueberries on top! Big thanks to Yonaki for pointing these out to me :hearttwo:

I spent the early hours of today catching up with some online things, I’ve been so busy lately it feels like I’ve been left behind! I couldn’t stay inside all day though, so the Prince and I went to Beaufort street which is one of my favourite little shopping and cafe strips. I had a chance to browse a store called “Ware” which Skwerlie reccomended to me. They had so many cute trinkets and gifts! I especially liked the Cake soaps (which looked and smelled good enough to eat!) :cake: and some of the stationary and jewelry with little vintage illustrations. We also went to Heart & Home and I found the most gorgeous tea cup and saucer, delicate rose pink with little rococo country scenes and gold rims. I think I might just to go back for that one some time.

We stopped for refreshments at a cute little Deli and bought Blueberry Aloe Vera drink, its the strangest thing! It actually has real aloe vera pulp in it and its a bit like drinking jelly. Our last stop was the little curio store at the end of the road, they have such whimsical things, toys from 50 years ago, antique jewelry, military hats and medals. I find old things fascinating because they have their own little stories to tell.

Gingerbread Cookies

Wednesday, May 2nd, 2007

Gingerbread Heart Today I enjoyed a brief respite in amidst a hectic week. While I probably should have been running errands and ticking a few more things off my “to do” list, I instead decided to treat myself to a day at home with Miss Charlotte :hearttwo:

In the morning we baked delicious gingerbread bicuits! They are spicy and soft and shaped like hearts, flowers and stars. Gingerbread is my favourite kind of biscuit and Miss Charlotte quite likes them too, I had three with my hot chocolate in the afternoon as I read “Night Dance” which is a retelling of “The Twelve Dancing Princesses” with a dash of Arthurian Legend thrown in :book: It was an enjoyable enough read, but far from excellent. I shall, however, start “Queen of Fashion, What Marie Antoinette wore to the Revolution” tomorrow as I finally got a copy through the library system.

This afternoon my cute little cake hair tie arrived! I love it :cake: I also borrowed a couple of movies and this evening watched “The Thief Lord” which was a charming little story about a group of orphans in Venice and a Carousel that could make Adults into children and Children in to adults. The concept intrigued me, although I am personally of the opinion that, while we must someday grow old, growing up is entirely optional.
