Princess Challenge for April 2008

Here is your mission. Make up a fairy tale or short story with yourself as the main character. It can be based on your real life experiences or completely fictional. You can write it in prose, verse, or even draw scenes from the story. There is no length requirement, but you should have an ending (happy or otherwise) by the last day of the month.

Your task this month is to find a little bit of beauty in every day. You can write about it, take photos, draw or record these beautiful things in a blog or journal. They can be anything from a little flower growing through the pavement to an act of great kindness that you witnessed. Each day, for a whole month, find something beautiful in the world around you.

Princess Challenge for June 2008

This month we’re going to try something new! It can be anything at all, as long as its something you’ve never tried before but always wanted to. A new hobby or sport, a different fashion, a new recipe or restaurant or perhaps an experience like going on a boat or flying a kite. One of the best ways to grow and develop who we are is to try new things, you never know when you’ll discover something that makes you happy or lets you express another part of yourself.

Princess Challenge for July 2008

This month we’re having a cooking challenge! The cold weather here has got me in to a baking mood, but even if its summer for you, it will still be fun to try out a new recipe! Whether its a stew or soup or salad, cookies or cake or chocolates, try cooking something you love but have never tried making from scratch before. Food is one of those small pleasures in life that we often take for granted, but it can be a beautiful art in itself and also a great comfort when a lot of love is put in to the preparation. You might like to share your results with friends or family, or even have a little picnic to celebrate your success! I look forward to reading about your cooking adventures and hopefully we can post everyone’s recipes up at the end of the month and make a little Princess cookbook!

Princess Challenge for August 2008

This month we’re going to partake in a the Arts and find a little inspiration in the beauty of music, theatre or dance. The challenge is to get out there and see a show! I will leave it entirely up to your tastes as to what you see. Whether its Ballet, Opera, a Play, a Symphony, a Musical or Concert. It doesn’t have to be classical either, you can go see a rock concert or broadway musical. Look up your local performing arts venues and see what they have on, grab a friend or two and make a night of it! If time and money does not permit this, find another way to enjoy the arts. Watch a movie, opera or ballet on dvd, or even go in to town to enjoy the buskers or street performers on the weekend. Write a little about your experience so we can all share the inspiration and beauty you found.

Princess Challenge for October 2008

In theme with this week’s Princess Lesson, our challenge this month is one that requires Courage. I want you to think hard about something you’re afraid of. It might be a phobia, heights, spiders, snakes, darkness or a more personal fear such as public speaking, confronting your parents about something, performing on stage or even wearing alternative fashion out of the house! Whatever you choose, you’ll have to confront and conquer this fear in some way. You can write about your experience in a journal entry or share photos of you facing your fear!

Princess Challenge for November 2008

This month we’re going to get in touch with our fairy tale side, leave our castles for the enchanted forest to explore gardens, climb hills, walk through meadows. Thats right, I want you to get outside and explore the magical natural world. If you live in a city, find a park or visit the zoo, you may even like to take a weekend away to visit the countryside. There is so much beauty and magic in the wild untouched places, have an adventure, write about your experience and maybe take a few photos to share with us!
